I recently entered a Giveaway on one of my favorite blogs, the Tomkat Studio. When I went to find out who had won this fabulous giveaway and saw my comment there as the winner I seriously squealed. The giveaway was for the Martha Stewart Cupcake book and $20 to Bake It Pretty. Well I could hardly wait to go shop at this super cute bake shop. They have SO many things I wanted to get but stuck pretty close to the $20. Guess I'll be going back to finish my long list.

And today I was sitting at my kitchen table and who should drive up but the UPS man, my Martha Stewart Cupcake book was here!!!! I can't wait until bedtime to sit down and devour this book.

The red and white things I got with our cocoa party in mind that's coming up in Dec.(we're doing a peppermint theme this time) and the black and orange for something fun for Halloween, and those cute gable boxes, well they were just too cute to pass up, I'm sure I'll think of something for them.

2008 Cocoa Party

I was looking through my past parties recently remembering how much fun they were to plan and throw. I've realized I'm in great need of throwing my own party but alas it's just not in the cards at the moment. So while I was reliving these wonderful parties it occured to me that I was missing a very important one. Our very first Cocoa Party. I couldn't find where I'd posted anywhere. So I'm posting it now for future reference. We actually won second place in a holiday party contest where we won some super fun stuff from Crate & Barrel. From this party came an annual event. I'm so excited to begin this years!!!

Cowgirl Carnival

This last weekend I was able to help my sister with my nieces 4th birthday party. The cowgirl carnival theme came about when my niece told my sister she wanted a Buzz Lightyear party. Now my niece is not a girly girl and my sister misses some of the girly things you get to do with a girly girl, not that we would change my niece for anything because she is hilarious! So she talked to her and they decided to do a cowgirl theme because Woody and Jesse were cowboys/cowgirls.

The whole thing turned out soooo cute! The only bummer was the weather decided it would be a good day to be one of the windiest days ever! But we managed to make it work.

I did a banner for her, in the Pink, Yellow, and Red theme we decided on. There were going to be both boys and girls attending the party so we had to make it work for both.

She decided to do a candy buffet for the kids and it was a huge hit.

I helped with the labels, pin wheels, horse shoe banner, and pennents.

She also had cowboy hats that we added a sheriff's stars to and bandanna's for everyone.

There was also popcorn on the table for the kids while they waited their turn for the horse ride she had.

We also had each child take their picture behind a wanted poster that I'm making into Thank you card, I'll post one as soon as I get them done.

It as all so fun to do. Unfortunately because of the wind we weren't able to set up the carnival games she had like we planned. I had made some cute signs for them but it was just not going to work. She had them play: shoot the can off the railing with water guns, pin the tail on the donkey, and a cowboy ring toss, as well as a ride on a real horses.

This is what the game signs looked like, bummer we couldn't use them. I'll have to use them for something else.

I am helping my sister with my nieces birthday this weekend and I'm so excited about it! My niece wanted a Toy Story birthday but my sister just could bring herself to do it and instead decided to focus on the fact that Jesse and Woody were cowgirls/boys. So she's doing a Cowgirl Carnival for her theme. I got the invitations done and thought I'd share.

So I have a question for the general party public, what do you do with all the left over candy from the amazing candy buffets that I see? Do people really clean you out when they fill up their take home boxes? Anyway, I just have been wondering for ever especially since I always have food left over after my parties.

So here is the food table. I was pleased with the way it all came together. I think I maybe have to much going on on the table~thoughts? Like I said in the previous post we had great weather, maybe too great. It got to be a little warm and things started melting so it didn't look pretty the whole party because I had to bring things in.

Napkin rings

I ordered colored bread from our local bakery to match the party for the chicken and egg salad sandwiches. I think i should have said pale pink and pale orange because I got bright on both accounts. But it did match really well.

Always have to have cupcakes!

Water bottle labels. I can't believe I didn't get a shot of the other two designs I had, oh well.

So glad there was some salsa left over, this is one of my all time favorites.

Kate (guest of honor) brought a yummy berry trifle.

I spyed these dipped Oreo's on How Does She a while back and put them in my "must try folder". They turned out super cute, then I brought them outside and they melted in minutes.

My original idea was to do the dessert shots in shot glasses but I couldn't find the right shot glasses or substitute for that matter. So I used what I had, wine glasses. I did two different desserts in them. One was chocolate mousse on a brownie with whip cream the other lemon curd on angel food cake with whip cream. Both yummy!

Fun way to add a little more color and some birds as well.

Kate was such a huge help for her own Sprinkle. She and I got together to make the favors for the guests to take home. We made these cute felt birds in the coordinating colors of the Sprinkle.

Tweet Decorations

I had the pleasure this weekend of hosting a baby sprinkle for a good friend and neighbor of mine who is having her first girl. When deciding on a theme for this "Sprinkle" I was drawn to the bird theme that is popular right now. When I asked her about that and what she thought she was thrilled. As it turns out she is doing the babies room in a bird theme so this was perfect.

When I was gathering ideas I came across a lot of different options but most of them were more out "doorsy" looking bird parties, I wanted more of a crafty, non-realistic look. The colors I found from this digital color paper pack and I loved them immediately. (because of my camera you may not be able to tell really well what the colors are, sorry. they are red, hot pink, brown and a melon orange)

I love having parties outside. I also hate it. Love the atmosphere and nice weather. Hate the unpredictability and wind. But I decided to brave it and hope for the best. So we held this in my backyard and we were blessed with sunshine and low winds.

This was the sign across my walk to the front door.

The flowers are clips and were the prize for the ONE game we did.

Tissue poms every where. They were put to good use after the party in the baby's room.

I had these birds everywhere as well.

My daughter set up the chairs for me. It looks like were having a meeting of some kind, she does love order.

This is the food table pre-food and the banner I made for this fun occasion.

I also made these strings of circle garlands to hang in the awnings. They were super simple but brought a lot of color to the space.

I am in Pom heaven at the moment. I finished cutting and fluffing my poms for the "sprinkle" this weekend and I 've got them all on the bed down stairs. Every time I walk into the room it makes me giggle, sometimes I just go peek so I can. I can't even tell you how excited I am for this party. It just makes me happy. : )

Girls birthday 2009

I have two girls, one is four the other 1. My one year old was born the day after my four year old, three years later. I'm lucky enough that right now they don't mind sharing a party for their birthdays. This past year I was inspired from Kim at The TomKat studio to do a lollipop theme party. I would have LOVED to do this outside but their birthday is in October so no such luck. We just had a small family gathering so I didn't get to do ALL that I would have liked but still this turned out pretty cute.

I found paper lanterns at Michaels in the dollar bins during the summer and knew just what I wanted to do with them. Wrapped in cellophane they make pretty cute suckers.

Each girl got her very own cake.

Had to have the cupcake toppers and wrappers to match.

I was inspired by the rainbow cake I found here to coordinate the colors with the party. It was a fun surprise to find in your cupcake and the kids loved it.

The "thank you's" for everyone to take home were my favorite popcorn balls in the party colors.

I also found a great idea for lollipop cookies. I have found some cute cookies since doing this party that I wish I had found before. Oh well.

It was so fun to do for my girls and I'm looking forward to doing their next birthday already!

The birthday girls: I made their shirts and tutu's for them as well as their bows. I ordered baby legs leg warmer for them as well. Pretty stinkin cute if I do say so myself.

Pleasantly Pink Baby Shower

I was lucky enough to do a baby shower with my good friend Dacia for another friend who is having her first girl after two boys. Of course we did all things pink in her honor.

This centerpiece I saw at the Party Dress which I fell in love with right away. We so tried to get an Edwardian umbrella like the one in the picture but they are super expensive from US sites and then ran into problems trying to get one here from the UK. Next time I'll have one.

The food was SO yummy!
These are stuffed strawberries which I found at Kraft, they were so good!

I found a really good recipe for a Caesar Club sandwich from the Barefoot Contessa at the Foodnet Work site. The original plan was to put the sandwiches in Glassine bags with a cute label but the bags ended up being to small. So now I have two dozen bags with tags and I'm not sure what to do with them, oh well I'll come up with something. (please excuse my misspelling)

We made these paper cones which were inspired from The Hostess With The Mostess, we filled them with candy popcorn.

I found these molds at Michaels and wanted to use them to see how they'd work out. We filled them with raspberry mousse and they were a big hit.

It's not a party if you don't have cupcakes.

We served chips and dips. The dips we put in the little party cups and the chips in Glassine bags.

We hung the tissue poms and paper lanterns from dowels that I painted white and stuck them in vases on a bed of rose petals.

Cocoa Party

I had a wonderful time at our annual cocoa party and even more fun planning and working on it. Our theme this year was a snowy winter wonderland. Inspired from This winter wonderland tablescape from Inspired Bride that we saw on Hostess With the Mostess (one of my all time favorite places for inspiration)

For the invitations we used the "Sweet Treat" cups from Stamp'n Up to add a little more snow to the invitation.

I saw this idea once on Martha Stewart quite a while ago and they turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself. I took styrofoam balls and sprayed them with spray adhesive and rolled them in fake snow.

We took the branch idea from Inspired Bride and sprayed these branches with the snow in the can and they "looked" great but when it came time to use them the snow started flaking off. SO, I should have used the instructions from Inspired Bride and spray painted them white- note to self. We also hung snow flakes from the branches for a more wintery feel. Love how they turned out!!

I am a huge fan of Amy Atlas and love her simple yet amazing table scapes she does. So in her honor, I tried.

We tried our hand at cake pops from Bakerella, they're really not too difficult and are super cute so if you ever need a fun new sweet to try you should really give these a go. (I'd do chocolate cake next time instead of yellow)

We also got together to decorate snowflake sugar cookies that turned out really cute. (and yummy)

We also had ordered powdered sugar doughnut holes (cause they look like snowballs) but didn't get exactly what we were hoping for so we improvised and rolled our glazed doughnut holes in powdered sugar.

After last years party we decided we needed something to counter act all the sweet things so I made a cheeseball and we found snowflake RITZ to go with it.

And to finish off the night we sent everyone home with more cakepops to enjoy later. We put these bags together using American Crafts Merry Mint paper and hung a snowflake in the window.

A big thanks to Dacia and Lynne for all the fun times we had putting this together and co-hosting. I can't wait for next years! Thanks again girls.

Monkey Baby Shower

It's finally happened! I've been so excited to do this baby shower for a good friend of mine. We've been talking about it and getting stuff together for a month at least and to see it all come together was so great.

This is the banner I made for her shower. She is having her fifth child and it's a boy. So what better way to celebrate than to have a shower for her, because having five kids deserves a party!
We served one of my favorites salads from the "Domestic Diva's Party Cook book" (all recipes at the end of the post), strawberries and cheesecake dip, hot artichoke dip with baguettes, and of course cupcakes. The punch was the Citrus Sunshine punch. It was all so yummy!

These are the favors we sent home with everyone. Chocolate sprinkles in these cute tins. Also the prizes for the games, salt water taffy in coordinating colors.

One of the games was design a onsie. We used fabric markers and stamps to create a unique onsie for the baby. Mom picked the winner.

The other game we played was guess what's in the bag. In each bag was a baby item that started with that letter. Here's what we had: B-bib A-applesauce B-burp cloths Y-yellow rubber duck S-socks H-hats O-onsie W- washcloths E- electrical plugs R-rattle

Bushels of Blessings Dinner

Big sigh! Yeah I made it through, it was close though. I thought for sure I would be moved by now and wouldn't be doing the Activity Days dinner, but here I am. Really though it wasn't that bad. I decided on the theme "Bushels of Blessings" and using apples. This wasn't quite as over the top as last year but I think the girls enjoyed it as did their parents.

I did digital invitations this time instead of my handmade and they turned out pretty cute.

I also use some of my digital stuff from fabulous Kristin Aagard's "Sweet Apple" collection, for my program cover. Love her stuff!!

Centerpieces I found these great tubs at Target in their dollar section for only $2.50 and that scrapbook paper was also in the dollar section and was perfect!

For a treat for the girls I made them each a caramel apple with chocolate and sprinkles. I also found these baskets in the dollor section at Target.

Kara from "Kara's cupcakes" did these super cute cupcakes and they went perfect with my theme, thanks for the help Kara! I used them for decoration on the food table, everyone was anxious to get their hands on these.

The food wasn't anything super fabulous, ham, funeral potatoes, salad, rolls, and apple crisp for the adults.

It all went really well and everyone seemed to have a good time. I only had one hiccup, the ham wasn't warmed through when it came time to eat so I just cut off the warmed outside parts. It didn't look very pretty but no one seemed to mind.

I'm almost positive this was my last activity days dinner but you never know, maybe I'll be in activity days again when I move.

Lady bug Party idea board

Because I am the way I am I have already decided on a theme and started collecting ideas for my girls birthday party this year (in October).

I thought I could go through what I've found so far and maybe that would inspire me more or someone out there would have some more fabulous ideas. I'll try and site my findings best I can.

First of course they will need party hats just for them and of course for the rest of the guests. I'm hoping to find some red polka dot paper and use black marabu and polka dot ribbons. I found this SUPER cute out fit at Miacarina. I think it would be perfect for Holland and of course Ellie would need something as well. I found a black and white pettiskirt at Halo Heaven for her and I'll make a T just for her too.

For the favors I've found lots of cute things. starting at the top ~ chocolate ladybugs, ladybug pencil and erasers, ladybug pen, two different kinds of ladybug stickers, ladybug note pad, ladybug bubbles, and of course a net to catch them in. I thought it would be fun to put the favors in clear pail with a cute label and some ribbons of course. (not everything here will be in the pail, just ideas) most things I found at the Ladybug Gift Store. Also found some things at Oriental Trading and Birthday Express
When I saw this cute red and black favor box the first thing that came to my mind was that it would be fun to serve the kids lunch in these. Stick a cute label on the front with their name on it and serve with a water bottle with a matching label. The oreo suckers I thought I could make look like ladybugs and put a wrapper on them and a cute tag. I've found lots of ideas for ladybug cakes but haven't decided what to do yet.
I'm excited to get started on the decorations. I think I can make paper ladybugs to put up, a banner, pom poms, balloons, and I want to design my own invitation and all the labels and tags and a door sign.

So that's what I've got so far. Any more ideas?

This last week has proved something to me. Now is not the time in my life to be doing positively perfect. I had the opportunity to do "Scrapfest" this weekend and after ALL the preparation I put into it and how time consuming it was, it was very clear that right now I don't have the time to give to this. I need to put other things first on my priority list and this needs to take a back seat. I will most definitely becoming back to this because I love a party and the fun things that go with a party, but not now.

BUT I do have some things (ok almost everything) left from my preparations that are for sale.

new look

So what do we think? I just wasn't happy with the look of my blog, too much yellow. I have a favorite digital scrapbook designer, Kristin Aagard. She has THE cutest kits! I loved so many of her elements and really wanted to cute-ify my blog. I know it doesn't look much like a party blog, but this is SO more me.

I'm also hoping I'll be able to use some of her images on my party things. She has the CUTEST little frog and turtle that I can absolutely see using on a baby shower or a little boy birthday. Fingers crossed.

Oh and I still have a little tweaking to do to my background, I've got to get that swirl out of the way so you can read the post, so working on that not to worry. : )

Pink Lemonade

Apparently there is a lollipop stick shortage where I live so I had to go into "town" to find more so don't worry they do come attached to sticks.

I've hit a party pause. Which is actually a good thing. I finished up my Barefoot Bunco and shame on me for not getting any pictures but I'm claiming sickness. I'd just started coming down with something the day of and was not all there by the time of the party plus my drama with puff pastry which you can read about here if you're seriously in need of, well, something?

I am looking forward to helping a friend of mine out with her customer appreciation party coming up at the end of the month. We're going Flirty French in black & white damask and throwing in some hot pink, it's going to be super chic so look for it.

I am almost completely done with the construction party things. I've all but got the banner done, just needs to be hung so I can take a picture. I am so happy with the way it all turned out I hope my nephew is as well.

A little about me

I am a mom of four very busy kids ranging in age from 7 to 19mo. I am patiently waiting to sell our home so that we can move to Las Vegas where my husband is currently working. The challenge of being apart have strengthened me and my relationships with my family.
I absolutely LOVE scrapbook paper and love to find fun ways to use it when entertaining. I love browsing other places to find inspiration and fun ideas. I will admit I am also a polka dot freak! I can't get enough of them, I love them on just about everything.(especially my girls wardrobe)
I don't recall when I realized I loved to throw a party it just seems that it's always been that way. I am obsessed with cake stands and other entertaining pieces. My dream would be to have a wall sized china hutch to keep all my dishes and entertaining things in. I am excited about this new adventure and look forward to sharing my love of parties with all.

I'm lucky enough to be able to not only make some fun party things for my nephews 5th birthday, but I get to be there to celebrate too! He's having a construction party and we're doing yellow, red, and black. My sister-in-law found this really cool construction zone cake she's going to make. I'm working on the party hats, banner, cupcake toppers, & goodie bag tag to coordinate with the rest of the party. Now I just need to get these off so she can send them out. (I promise they're on their way)

I know I'm one of those crazy mom's who's got to plan their kids birthdays MONTHS before hand. I am doing the girls birthdays together since they're only a day apart and Ellie doesn't seem to mind yet. The theme this year is going to be lollipops and my colors are teal, lime, light pink, & hot pink. I've already made Ellie's tutu and can't wait to see one on Holland. I'm definitely going to have to make Holland a smash cake this year since I know Ellie wouldn't be happy if she destroyed her cake. It's been so fun gathering ideas I can't wait to pull it together.

Five Little Monkey's Baby Shower

I am lucky enough to be able to throw a baby shower for a good friend of mine who is having her fifth baby. She's having a boy and after having two girls before had gotten rid of all her boy things. So I had to throw her a shower! Here's a sneak peak at some things I've got going on.

I've got the cupcake toppers done and ready to go but no picture yet. Also waiting to make the tissue pom poms so they don't get squished. Favors are too cute and I've just got to put some finishing touches on them.
